Frances (Casey) Rusden, age 86, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at her home on July 23, 2023 with her loved ones by her side.
She was born and raised in Tamaqua, PA and was the daughter of the late Kathryn (Hyland) and John Casey. Frances attended St. Jerome HS, Tamaqua. While in high school, Frances met the love of her life, Donald Rusden.
Her career, raising a family, was the most important part of her life. She had 5 children and then was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Frances was a member of Holy Rosary Parish. She enjoyed traveling, and she and Don visited all 50 states and spent the winters in Florida.
Frances’ husband of 63 years, Donald T. Rusden, died in 2017. She is survived by 4 children Cathy Miller, Donald Rusden, Patty Buckley (Stephen) and Chrissy Rusden; 5 grandchildren, Allison (Melvin), Danielle (Matt), Sean (Meghan), Gabe, and Taylor (Frank); and 5 great grandchildren, Josh, Lia, Casey, Elizabeth, and Jonathan. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Rusden; son-in-law, Michael Miller; daughter-in-law, Roberta Kordowski, and 3 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made, in memory of Frances’ mother, to Alzheimer’s Assoc. Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Phila. PA19106.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her personal caregivers who made her life comfortable for the past year.
A visitation will be held on July 28, from 6-8 pm at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pk., Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 10:30 am at Holy Rosary Church 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont where another visitation will be held from 9:30-10:15 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington.
