Robertson, Dana Lee

Dana Lee Robertson passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, after a brave fight against a lengthy illness. Born in Wilmington on October 26, 1955, to Charles Lee Robertson and Barbara Bird Pyle Robertson, Dana was a life-long Delawarean and a 1973 graduate of Christiana High School. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degrees from American University, where he studied Economics and International Relations. Following his years in Washington D.C., Dana moved to New York City, where he worked and shared his musical talent as a member of St. Mary the Virgin. Eventually, he returned home to Delaware and was employed by Wilmington Trust until 2011. He then went on to serve as Parish Administrator for The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew in Wilmington, until his retirement in 2019. He was a long-time member of Christ Church Christiana Hundred, where he served on the Vestry as the Clerk of the Vestry, Acolyte Advisor, Parish Fellowship Team, and tenor in the professional choir for 36 years.

Dana blessed audiences and congregations throughout the Delaware valley with his magnificent tenor voice. He was a sought-after soloist for years, singing with OperaDelaware, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Northern Delaware Oratorio Society, Delaware ChoralArts, Mastersingers of Wilmington, Christ Church Christiana Hundred, Congregation Beth Emeth and Saints Andrew and Matthew. He was also a long time member of CoroAllegro for which he not only sang, but served as Board President several years throughout his tenure.
In addition to his gift of voice, Dana also played the trombone. Growing up with horses, he was an active equestrian and a member of Delaware Pony Club and Silver Bits 4-H.

Dana is survived by his long-time partner, Charles Dale, Jr., and their three dogs, Delilah, Boe and Joanna (his love for dogs Dana inherited from his mother). He also leaves behind his father Charles Lee Robertson, brothers Kerry Lee Robertson, Randall Pyle Robertson (Danielle), and sister Lynn Suzanne Robertson Bishop, nieces Alesha Marie Robertson Hollis (Andrew), Morgan Michelle Robertson (Tyler Stuntz), Alexandra Pyle Bishop and nephews Reed Charles Robertson (Julie) and Jeremy Robertson Bishop (Stephanie), grandnephew Leo Fulton Hollis, grandniece Remi Stewart Hollis, and dear friend Patricia Saunders. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, 505 E. Buck Road in Wilmington at 11 am on Saturday July 29, 2023, followed by a private interment in the Memorial Garden. Visitation with the family will follow at a reception in the Christ Church Parish Hall.

Donations in Dana’s memory can be made to Delaware Humane Association (www.humaneanimalpartners.org), Faithful Friends (www.faithfulfriends.us), or the Christ Church Music Fund. To view slideshow presentation click the following link, http://videos.lifetributes.com/1277501
