On June 30th, 2023 Jane A. Day “plain Jane”, 91, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jane was born, Jane A. Haven, in Audubon, NJ. She married Alvin R. Day June 17th, 1950. They moved to Wilmington, DE in 1953 where she was a devoted wife, mother and member of Bethel Baptist Church for nearly 30 years. Besides raising her own 6 children, Jane cared for countless numbers of babies and toddlers every Sunday during the Sunday School hour.
She was predeceased by her husband, Al, and their son, Mark. She is survived by her children, Tom (Sue), Rick (Sue), Susan Day (Gordy), Sarah Mack (Mike) and Bill. Her 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren remember her loving devotion to her family and her cookie jar always full of Oreos.
The family would like to thank the staff of Somerford Place for their care during her time there.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Compassionate Care Hospice, c/o Amedisys Foundation, 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, payable to Amedisys Foundation.
Service will be on Friday, July 14th at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE with visitation beginning at 10:00 and service to follow at 11:00.Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
