Myrtle M. (Quinn) Geist of Wilmington, Delaware, departed this life on June 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 5, 1929, she was just shy of her 94th birthday.
She was predeceased by many family members including her parents, Frederick and Ruth Quinn, son John, her siblings, and several grandchildren.
She retired from Wiltex Company after 27 years of service. She had a second career at ShopRite in the bakery department where she was affectionately known as the Cookie Lady. Despite not being able to swim, she taught water aerobics at the Western YMCA. She was a dedicated volunteer for many years with the Mended Hearts program at St. Francis Hospital. She is survived by her children Dorothy Manuel, Ruth Westendorf (Chuck), Mary Quinn, Barbara Geist Heglund, and William J. Geist (Wendy), as well as 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 13, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. Visitation will be from 10am to 11:30am, followed immediately by the memorial service.
