Elizabeth Eyerly, age 88 of Wilmington, Delaware formerly of Glen Mills, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 27th.
Elizabeth, who goes by Betsy, was born and raised in the city of Chester, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Chester High School in 1953. She first met her husband, Albert P Eyerly in high school. He went on to join the Army. He wanted her to go with him, but she declined. When Albert was finally discharged from the Army, they were married. After getting married, Betsy went on to work at Scott Paper Company for 35 years. She was well liked at Scott Paper and enjoyed working there.
Betsy’s biggest joy was her three grandchildren. They loved spending time with their Mom Mom and Pop Pop They loved sleepovers at her house and making breakfast with her the following morning. They were the light of her life. Betsy loved the beach. We would spend summers at Pot Nets in Delaware and then eventually had a house in Ocean View, DE. It was a great place to gather as a family and make amazing memories. She was a loving mom who worked full time, but always made it to our after-school basketball games - even after a long day.
Betsy was preceded in death by her son, Paul D Eyerly and her husband, Albert P Eyerly. Betsy is survived by her daughter, Susan E Sims (Eyerly); her son-in-law, Michael D Sims; her granddaughters Abigail Sims and Grace Sims and her grandson Luke Sims. Betsy also is survived by her niece, Cathy Hurlock and her nephew, Chris Webb, as well as her sister, Patricia Webb.
Services and burial will be held privately.
