Carl Frederick, age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Accent Hospice, Wilmington Hospital.
He was born in Moosic, PA and was the son of the late Letha (Miller) and John H. Frederick. At age seven, the family moved to Delaware and Carl spent his youth in the Richardson Park area. Carl graduated from Conrad High School in 1952. He married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Jamison in 1954. Shortly after, they moved to Elkton, MD and started a family.
He started his career as an apprentice at Joseph Frederick & Sons Plumbing and Heating. He then worked for the Dupont Company in the maintenance department for over 30 years where he retired in 1993. Not known to stop, he continued working for Dupont part-time as a consultant for the maintenance department.
Carl was a member of the Richardson Park Sporting Club, the Odd Fellows and the Moose Lodge, Lodge # 630. Carl cherished his family over all. Second, was hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
His wife of 43 years Jacqueline (Jamison) died in 1997. Carl is survived by his son, Carl H. Frederick; a brother, Gary Frederick and his wife Kathy; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Casey and her husband Aidan, Robbie Hollada, Desiree Frederick, Jessica Frederick, Carl John “CJ” Frederick and his wife Liz, Amy Bonneville, Lindsey Lee Frederick and Eric McKinney and his wife Angela and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Darlene Frederick; his daughter, Marcia McKinney; and his siblings John “Jack” Frederick, Leroy Frederick, Harry Frederick and Dorothy Ramsey.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 8th from 10-11 am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Burial will then conclude at Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.
