Lynn Robert Kiehl (aka PawPaw), a resident of Maris Grove, passed away May 23, 2023 after a short illness. He was 83 years old.
Lynn was born to the late Harry and Verna Kiehl. He grew up in Corning, New York and graduated from Corning Free Academy. He then went on to graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University where he met his wife of 56 years. Together they served three years in the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. Returning to Wilmington in 1965, Lynn began his career with ICI Americas, Inc. in project engineering and building operations. He spent many years serving God through volunteering with Delmarva Walk to Emmaus and PUMH. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for 57 years.
Lynn was beyond handy and spent many happy hours fixing and building. Most of all, he loved “squeezers”, “pokes” and having fun with family and friends both at home and in Stone Harbor, New Jersey.
In addition to his parents, Lynn is preceded in death by his wife, Judith M. Kiehl who passed in 2018 and his brother, Kent R. Kiehl. He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Good (Andrew) of Wilmington, and Pamela Armstrong (Eric) of Newark and his five “grandbabies”, Alex Armstrong, Lindsay Mudalel (Andrew), Zachary Armstrong, Connor Armstrong, and Rebekah Good who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew as well as his best friends with whom he loved to share Friday breakfasts. His family would like to thank the Rose Court and Willow Tree Hospice team for all of their loving care. He loves you all.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (Rt. 202 South of Silverside Road) 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.
Service and burial at Lower Brandywine Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lynn’s memory to the Resident Care Fund, Maris Grove, 100 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
