Riley, Olga

Olga S. Riley, 95, died May 21, 2023. Born in Kursk, Russia on September 16, 1927, Olga was relocated to a German work camp in 1943 during the Battle of Kursk. She immigrated to the United States in March of 1951. There, she met her husband, James Riley, whom she married June 20, 1954. Olga worked as an LPN, first at Wilmington General Hospital, then at Riverside Hospital where she worked until her retirement.

Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Sergei Kaminski and Sofia Kaminska; her sister, Zina; her husband, James S. Riley; and her grandson, Christopher Riley. She is survived by her children, Serge Riley (Virginia), James Riley (Anne), Jane Gasser, and Nick Riley (Robin); her 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Olga was a longtime member of St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church, serving on the parish council, singing in the choir, and serving as a member of the St. Mary’s Sisterhood and of the pierogi making team.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Parkview Rehabilitation and Nursing Home for the many years of loving care, especially to all those in the Lancaster Unit.

Services for Olga will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church (2300 W Huntington Dr, Wilmington, DE 19808). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment at All Saints’ Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church.
