Gordon A. Taylor, Jr. age 76, of Wilmington, DE, passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2023 at Wilmington Hospital.
He was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the son of the late Helen and Gordon A. Taylor, Sr. Gordon graduated from Brandywine High School in 1968.
On the day after his graduation, Gordon began his career working for the Brandywine School District as a groundskeeper. He retired after 41 years of service.
At one time Gordon was a member of the Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. He was also a member of Holy Rosary and Church of the Holy Child Catholic Churches. He enjoyed camping, working on cars and shuffle board but what brought him his most delight was his time with his granddaughters and his great granddaughter.
Gordon’s wife of 45 years, Marianne (Green) Taylor died in 2018. He is survived by his daughter Christine Lawler and her husband Tim; 2 granddaughters, Kelly Lawler and her fiancé Zach Long and Heather Lawler; a great granddaughter, Amelia Long and a brother, Edward Taylor and his wife Joni.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 5 from 10-11am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will be held privately.
