Margerison, Sandra

Sandra (Sandy) L. Margerison, age 74,passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2023.

She leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories to comfort us. She was born on September 27, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware. Sandy was a loving wife to her late husband Rick and a devoted mom to her three children. She loved her family and friends and was always there when you needed her. She helped to care for her parents and grandchildren in between working at the University of Delaware, being a baseball mom to her middle son and a dance mom to her youngest son. Countless hours of working in the snack hut, shuttling kids to practice, making the cupcakes for school events, showing up for their sporting events and dance recitals.

When she wasn’t working, Sandy and her mom went to Delaware Park and played the slot machines, or she spent time at the University of Delaware Football and Basketball games with her dad. Sandy loved above all else being a grandmother to her 5 grandchildren. They filled her life with joy, love, and laughter. After retiring from the University of Delaware in 2010, she spent time going on day trips with them and hosting numerous holiday parties (like all the holidays) at her home. As she progressed in her COPD, her days were spent in the home she loved, and her circle of friends (Pat Hutchinson and Shirley McFadden) grew to help her with everyday activities so that she could remain in her home until her time here completed and she was reunited with her husband who she missed every day of the 40 years they were apart.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer L. Speakman (Ace and Sam), Richard L. Margerison, Jr. (Jared and Charley) and Shawn M. Margerison (Andrea and Sarah), her sister Joyce A. Skrobot, her nephew John A. Skrobot, III (Katie) and niece Nicole M. Skrobot, along with many loving cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.

Proceeding her in death was her beloved husband, Richard L. Margerison, her father, Charles W. Emory and mother, Mabel P. Emory.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
