Reid S. Miller, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2023, in Hockessin, DE. Born on April 9, 1941 in Danville, PA, to the late Kathleen (Serff) Miller and Leo Miller, Reid spent most of his childhood in West York, PA where he graduated from West York High School in 1959. Reid then attended The Pennsylvania State University graduating with both undergraduate (1963) and graduate (1965) degrees in Agricultural Economics. During his time at Penn State, he was active in the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and later served for a number of years as president of the chapters’ Alumni Board. He cherished the friendships made during his time at Penn State and remained in contact with many of his fraternity brothers throughout his life.
Reid married his high school sweetheart, Susan A. Bentzel, in 1963. In 1965, they moved to East Pennsboro Township, PA, where they raised their family. Reid worked most of his career as an Economist for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Milk Marketing Board in Harrisburg, PA. Following retirement and being an avid Penn State Football, wrestling, and volleyball fan, he and Sue moved to State College, PA, where they could attend these sporting events more regularly. Late in his life, Reid moved to Hockessin, DE, to be closer to family.
Reid was preceded in death by his beloved wife Susan, and is survived by his two sons, Brian L Miller and his wife Anita of Wilmington, DE; Daryl K Miller and his wife Denise of Fernandina Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Megan Moncrief and her husband David, Joseph Dise and his wife Arielle, Alexander Miller, Courtney Miller and Steven Miller; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Emerson Moncrief, Addison, Emmett and Avery Dise.
