Manuel, Richard V. Jr., “Rich”

Richard V. Manuel Jr., “Rich”, passed away suddenly on January 27th, 2023 at the age of 58. He was a son, a father, a grandfather, brother and friend; who will be missed by all.

Rich was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Richard V. Manuel, Sr. and Barbra (McNamara) Fad. He graduated from Delcastle Technical High School, class of 1983.

Rich was an accomplished electrician. Spending majority of his electrician career working for AstraZeneca, where he continued to grow in his profession. He also trained and taught apprentices, which he always enjoyed.

Rich is also predeceased by his brothers, Mark Manuel, Jeffery Manuel and sister, Deana Greenspan. He is survived by his daughter Alysha Skeels and her husband James Robert Skeels II (JR);his two grandchildren, Adriana Jennings and Colt Skeels; his mother, Dorothy Manuel; his three brothers, John (Nicole) Manuel, Todd(Donna) Greenspan and Brian Manuel; his sister Kathleen Manuel and many nieces, nephews as well as many other extended family members and friends.

He enjoyed bowling in several leagues and fishing for fun and in competitions. Rich grew up spending family vacations at the beach. Rich was an avid Nascar fan, who drove the Monster Mile at Dover Downs and where he worked part-time for years. His favorite Nascar racer was the great late Dale Earnhardt #3.

Growing up, he played guitar, drums, trumpet, and even keyboard in neighborhood bands. There wasn’t an instrument he did not want to try and master. From the harmonica to the violin, he loved music.

Rich was a generous and caring man, who would help anyone who needed it. He was a loving father, who was always there no matter what, and always did his best. A loving grandfather who would try to move mountains if he were asked.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation beginning at 10AM with the memorial service following at 11AM on Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, located at 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington DE. Burial will be held privately.
