Maurine Miller Thomas, a resident of Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, DE passed peacefully on January 15, 2023 at the age of 89.
Born in Carbondale, PA she grew up in Scranton, PA. Maurine was the daughter of the late Boyd A. and Marion Ely Miller. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Edwood and Tom.
Maurine was an active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church for 61 years and was a beautiful voice in the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and held several leadership positions. A descendant of John and Priscilla Alden, she was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in Delaware and also the D.A.R, Coochs Bridge Chapter.
Maurine is survived by her beloved husband Ralph. They were lovingly married for 67 years. She is also survived by daughters, Susan Shenko (Bill) of Keller, TX and Janet Chaney (Clay) of Kennett Square, PA., and grandchildren Karen Cook (Darren), Thomas Chaney (Christina), Laura Brinkman (Justin), Kimberly Cipollina-Chaney (Rebecca). She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren Emma, Bryson and Cambrie.
Maurine loved to play bridge, travel, and also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and cross stitching. Maurine will be remembered for her devoted love of her family and her strong faith. Friends and family will always remember her bright, warm smile and her kindness.
