Elizabeth Baird Schneese Donahue, “Bette” age 80 of Dagsboro, DE formerly of Wilmington passed away at Accent Hospice at the Wilmington Hospital on Friday, December 23, 2022.
She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the daughter of the late, Clara I. (Moore) and George J. Baird. Bette graduated from Wilmington High School in 1960. She was a manager at AT&T and retired after 30 years.
After retiring, Bette gave her time and talents to the Parish of St. Ann’s in Bethany Beach, DE with the RCIA Team and the St. Ann’s Renew Groups. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, shopping and gardening. Betty was a loving and devoted mother and adored spending time with her grandchildren.
Bette’s first husband, George G. Schneese predeceased her in 1980 and her second husband Joseph M. Donahue, Sr. in 2011 passed away. She is also preceded in death by her son, George M. Schneese in 2020; her brother, Millard Baird in 2004; her 2 sister Sarah I. “Sallie” Baird in 2016 and Jacqueline Rand this year, 2022 and a grandson, Ryan Schneese in 2016.
Bette is survived by her daughter Betanne B. Schneese and step-son, Joseph M. Donahue, Jr. and his wife Norine; grandchildren, Cody Schneese, Joseph M. Donahue III, Amanda Schneese, Sadie Menacker, Rachel Menacker, Samuel Menacker, Alexandria Schneese; a sister, Georgette Johnson and her husband Brad and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 13 at 12 noon at Parish of St. Ann’s, 691 Garfield Pkwy, Bethany Beach, DE 19930. Burial will be held privately at Greenhill Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wilmington at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Ann’s Parish.
