Joseph W. “Woody” Cain, Jr. age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born in Wilmington, DE and was the son of the late Alice (Campbell) and Joseph Cain, Sr. Woody graduated from Conrad HS in 1958. He proudly served his country in the US Navy.
Woody worked for the DuPont Company for 44 years, retiring as a Lab Technician in 2005.
He was an avid square dancer and enjoyed boating, shooting and astronomy. Bringing Woody his most joy was the times with his family.
His wife of 55 years, Louise F. died in 2018. Woody is survived by 2 children, LeRoy E. (Bonnie) and Cathrine A. Matarese; 3 grandchildren, LeRoy, Jr, William, Jr, and Carly; great-grandchild, Valour and 4 siblings, John, Alan, Brian Cain and Nancy Leager.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 28 from 12 noon – 1pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington where a funeral service will follow at 1pm. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
