Helen M. O’Hara, 89, of Crumpler, NC, formerly of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on December 2, 2022. Helen was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and enjoyed gardening, traveling, and baking her Scottish treats, especially around Christmas.
Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Alan Speir; her second husband, Thomas O’Hara; son-in-law, Thomas Allinder; and grandson, Joseph Speir. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Allinder of Crumpler, NC; son, Gordon Speir (Deanna) of Newark, DE; and grandson, Kenneth Speir (Jacqueline) of Townsend, DE - all of whom she loved and cherished deeply, as we likewise honor her in our memories.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 12th at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808). The family will receive friends starting at 12:30 PM. The burial will be held directly after at Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle, DE. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
