Jean L. Branca, age 82, of Middletown, DE went to be present with her Lord peacefully with her family by her side on November 30, 2022.
She was born and raised in Mt. Carmel, PA and was the daughter of the late Bernice (Rish) and John Valania. Jean graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1958. She then received her nursing diploma at the University of Pennsylvania in 1961.
Jean started her career at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. She then worked at the former General Hospital. Jean then paused her career to raise her daughters. She then attended the University of Delaware for her refresher courses. Jean then worked at Cokesbury Village for over 20 years retiring in the mid 80’s as the charge nurse. She enjoyed Bridge, Mahjong and playing golf with her lady’s group at Cripple Creek Country Club, Bethany, DE. Jean was an active member at Love of Christ Church where she sang in the choir and in trios. But most important to her was her time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Michael Branca, Jr., 2 daughters, Kim Ksiazek (Ed) and Keri Keen (Tim); 4 grandsons, Jarrett Ksiazek, Tyler Keen, Lance Ksiazek and Bryce Keen (Juliette) and a sister, Diana Valania. Jean is also preceded in death by her brother Tom Valania.
A celebration of life will be held at Love of Christ Church, 2157 Bear Corbitt Rd, Bear, DE 19701 on Tuesday, December 20 at 11 am. Family and friends may greet the immediate family after 10 am at church. Burial will be private.
