Peddrick, Allen Reese

Allen Reese Peddrick, age 80, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 29, 2022.

He was born and raised in Wilmington and was the son of the late Leni Lee (Merritt) and Elbert Peddrick. Allen graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1960 and attended American University while proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force Allen was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base and Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda where he met his future wife, Jean.

After his time in the Air Force Allen worked at the YMCA and YMCA Camp Tockwogh as Camp Director, and General Felt Industries in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He later opened his own business, Peddrick Associates, a HR consulting firm. He proudly finished his career and retired as a Senior Vice President of Comcast, Human Resources, in Philadelphia in 2005.

Allen, a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, passionately watched the Phillies and Eagles every chance he got and enjoyed every minute of the 2022 Phillies World Series run and Eagles winning season. He had a love of all sports and coached many teams including his children’s soccer and baseball teams. But what brought Allen his most joy was his time with his family, whether it was time in the Outer Banks with his wife, a competitive game of wiffle ball with his children or watching his grandchildren participate in their favorite sport or activities.

Allen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean (Van Kleunen); 4 children, Peter (Jill), Amy Elmer (Michael), Jenny Beth Blackstock (James) and Sarah Christian (Brandon); 8 grandchildren, Shawn, Jake, Chloe, Reese, Josh, Erin, Skylar and Taylor and a brother Robert (Martha).

Services and burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to YMCA Camp Tockwogh, Worton, Maryland where he made many memories. The link to make donations is https://donate.ymcade.org/give/389316/#!/donation/checkout or by check to YMCA Camp Tockwogh, 24370 Still Pond Neck Road, Worton, MD 21678
