Sharon A. Carter, age 75, of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on November 26, 2022. She was born and raised in Bluefield, WV and was the daughter of the late Mae (Wimmer) and Elmer Tabor. Sharon graduated from Bluefield High School.
After raising a family, she went to work for the Delaware State Hospital, in the Mitchell Building, New Castle where she retired as a supervisor in 2014 after 23 years.
Sharon enjoyed listening to country music on the radio, baking & cooking, feeding her birds & squirrels and she was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. But what brought her the most joy was her family, especially her granddaughter and her cats. Sharon was a member of First Baptist Church, New Castle.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Carter; a granddaughter, Alexis Burris; a great grandson, Jeremiah Ward and 2 sisters, Glenna and Patty. Sharon is also preceded in death by her son, Gene Carter and 2 siblings, Doris and Carl.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 6 from 10-11 am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, where a funeral will follow at 11 am. Then, burial at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
