Heinz, Robert M.

Robert Maurice Heinz, age 87, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE died on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Born in Allentown, PA, Robert was raised there and in Ventnor, NJ. After attending Atlantic City High School, he graduated from Lehigh University then served in the US Army for three years. After being discharged, Robert married the love of his life, Sarah Beyer, and worked in Finance while earning a Master’s Degree from Temple University. Moving to Wilmington, DE, he worked for 20 years for the DuPont Company in Wilmington before retiring. Robert was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and volunteered with the Mended Hearts of DE. He enjoyed taking on responsibilities of the Finance Committees of his church and homeowners’ organizations. In addition to his volunteer activities, he enjoyed travel and watching anything related to military history or the Philadelphia Phillies. He was also a voracious reader, played bridge and loved spending time with his family.

Robert was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Sarah, and his brother John. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Heinz, Robert B. Heinz (Valorie) and Andrew B. Heinz (Amy Peardon); grandchildren, Alexander Heinz, Rebecca Heinz and Kathryn Peardon; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, December 3 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1530 Foulk Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 at 11 am. Burial will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Robert’s name to Mended Hearts of DE at https://mendedhearts.org/ , or to an organization of your choice that assists those diagnosed with dementia or their caregivers.
