On Thursday, October 20, Jenny Haas Chase, loving mother and grandmother, passed away. Jenny died on the 60th anniversary of marriage to Arthur (Burt) Chase, her devoted and loving husband. She was eighty-two. The couple met in college in 1958 at the University of Delaware. They spent a lifetime together raising their 3 kids and traveling the world, creating so many treasured memories with friends and family. Jenny loved playing tennis and golf for many years. She also enjoyed watching sports and watching her 6 grandchildren grow (Blake Chase, Zachary Chase, Natalie Erickson, Ella Erickson, Chase Haupt, and Zoe Haupt).
In 2012, Jenny and her husband received the President’s Award for Philanthropic Commitment, which recognizes scholarship support which had a significant impact on the University of Delaware and its undergraduates. Additionally, they were ardent supporters of the UD Athletic Fund. Jenny and Burt also provided support to several local organizations.
Jenny was a kind, giving, and generous lady who sadly suffered her last years with Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). Jenny is survived by her husband, Arthur “Burt” Chase; son, Christopher Chase (Laura Kopfinger Chase); and daughters, Amy Chase Erickson (Christian Erickson), and Jennifer Chase Haupt (J. Zachary Haupt). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Details will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to The Children’s Oncology Group, The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, or Alzheimer’s Association.
