Bullen, Victorine “Vicky” Colombo

Victorine “Vicky” Colombo Bullen, age 92, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on October 16, 2022.

She was born and raised in Wilmington and was the daughter of the late Elizabeth N. (DeFeo) and Victor J. Colombo. Vicky graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1948 and received an associate’s degree from the former Beacom College in 1950.

She married her sweetheart, William J Bullen, Sr in 1951 at St. Ann’s Church. The couple was married for 59 years. Vicky delighted in nurturing her family of seven children, various pets and making her home a warm and inviting place for family and friends. As her children became more independent, she returned to the workforce at St. David’s Episcopal Church as a teacher assistant in the pre-school for over 10 years.

Vicky was a member of the Women’s Club in Claymont, the Junior Board at St. Francis Hospital, more recently an active member in AARP. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of many Bridge Clubs. Vicky made many beloved friends while being a member of these clubs and cherished these friendships. She enjoyed the beach house the family had in South Bethany, traveling and square dancing.

Vicky is survived by her 7 children, Monica B. Green (Mike) of Middletown, DE, William J., Jr. (Deborah) of Orlando, FL; Victor H. (Brooke Farquhar) of Clarksville, MD, Andrew of Cordova, MD, Mark of Philadelphia, PA, Patrick J. (Lisa) of Elmhurst, IL and Marybeth Medlock of Milton, DE; 15 grandchildren, Matthew Green, Melissa Green Verdi, Mark W. Green, William J. “Joey” Bullen III, Jessica E. Hyland, Gordon Bullen, Duncan Bullen, Elliot Bullen, Alessandra Bullen, Phillip C. Bullen, Vincent W. Bullen, Amanda P. Bullen, Elizabeth S. Bullen, Natalie Medlock and Cate Medlock; 8 great-grandchildren, Milena P. Verdi, Miranda K. Green, William J. “Will” Bullen IV, Laurel Anne Bullen, Henry Higgs Hyland, George Gerrick Hyland, Zoe Bullen-Jimenez and Eowyn Bullen-Jimenez, and a large extended family. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald J. Colombo and a son-in-law, Ricky Medlock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 28, at 11 am at Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE where friends may call after 10 am. Inurnment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Concord AARP, Chapter 3979, Aldersgate Church, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.
