Tanchuk, Clara

Clara “Claire” Tanchuk left this earth in the early hours of Oct 9th at the age of 99. Her husband Adolf preceded her in death in 1990. She was preceded in death by her siblings William H. Stultz II, Marie Bukowiec, and Helen Heck (Stulz). She is survived by her nephew Donald Stulz and her niece Jeanne Bukowiec. She leaves many friends who will cherish the memories and times together.

In her recent years as a resident of Rockland Place she had met many wonderful friends including staff that were positive impacts on her life. She enjoyed crafts, Bingo, and cooking at Rockland. Prior to moving into Rockland, she was a long-time resident of Arbor Pointe Apartments. She lived there independently until the age of 97. She enjoyed giving her friends life hacks and skills as well as cooking. Her favorite place to socialize was Mid - County senior center. She had been an active parishioner of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church until transportation there became a barrier.

She lived her life fully until she tested positive for Covid on Friday Sept 30th. She continued to be affected by the virus until her body could no longer fight on Friday October 7th when she required hospital services. At that time per her wishes she was placed on comfort care with hospice. She was kept company by family and friends as she transitioned. The staff of Accent Care hospice were kind and compassionate with her as she made it to her final moments and entered eternal peace.

Services for Clara will be held at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808) on Thursday, October 13th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment at All Saints Cemetery will immediately follow.
