Richard Alan Fortin

Richard Alan Fortin (Rick), age 65, passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2022 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Rick was born in Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from Concord High School. A gifted athlete, he was a first-team varsity soccer player and a first-team varsity basketball player. Rick graduated from The University of Delaware in 1981 with a degree in economics. While at U of D he played soccer for the University and served on the Student Activities Committee.

Until his early retirement, Rick was President of Brandwine Financial Group, a premier financial planning firm in Wilmington, Delaware, where he served his clients well for many years.

A Wilmington staple, Rick lived in Trolley Square and other downtown neighborhoods for many years before moving to Brandywine Hundred. Rick appreciated a good bar, a good martini and good music. Rick was an avid traveler and had a love for the Caribbean, where he always made fast friends with the locals and other travelers.

The favorite of all of Rick’s leisure activities was golf. He was a member of Chantilly Country Club in Maryland and most recently Cavaliers Country Club where he made lifelong friends and spent his happiest days.
