Chadwick, Beatrice Clark

Beatrice “Anne” Clark, or “Shoesy” Chadwick, of Hockessin, Delaware and Midlothian, Virginia passed away on September 9, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born April 23, 1928 in Milford, Connecticut and graduated from Connecticut College for Women.

Her first job was executive secretary at Hercules Powder Company where she met her future husband of 60 years, Arthur Andrew Chadwick. Together, they raised two children, Arthur Everett Chadwick and Anne Clark Chadwick.

Anne was a very involved parent, participating in ice skating, tennis, golf, and swimming activities. She was also an accomplished pianist and watercolor artist and designed the logo for her son’s business, Chadwick & Son Orchids Inc.

In later years, Anne and her husband were competitive ballroom dancers and regularly gave exhibitions in the Wilmington area. She had a zeal for life that cannot be overstated.

She is survived by her son, Arthur Everett Chadwick (Jane) of Powhatan, Virginia; granddaughter, Olivia Chadwick of Raleigh, North Carolina; and grandson, Arthur Edward Chadwick of Washington, D.C.

She is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Andrew Chadwick of Hockessin, Delaware; her daughter, Anne Clark Chadwick of Hockessin, Delaware; her sister, Mary Alice Clark of Bradenton, Florida, with whom she was intensely competitive for 90 plus years, her parents, Everett Bryan Clark and Beatrice Kellogg Clark of Bradenton, Florida and two cats, Baby Pokie and Furball.

The family would like to thank the staff at Spring Arbor of Salisbury. Funeral arrangements by McCrery and Harra will be private.
