Vera A. Farenski, age 70, of Wilmington, DE. passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on September 8, 2022.
She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the daughter of the late Wasyl and Katheryna Wasylyszyn. Vera attended Wilmington High School and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1970 and The Nursing School of Wilmington in 1973.
She started her career at a nursing home and would bring her children in to entertain the residents. During her career she worked at Riverside Hospital, in private practice and nursing agencies. She retired from St. Francis Hospital in 2019 after 46 years of nursing. Vera had worked in the Emergency Room for most of her career. She enjoyed going to casinos and working in her garden. What Vera cherished the most was her time with her family and friends.
Vera is predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Stanley J. Farenski, her grandson Jackson and her sister Deborah McDowell. She is survived by her 4 children, Jill Ponzio (Damian), Jason Farenski (Jessica), Joseph Farenski and Jeremy Farenski (Danielle); 6 grandchildren, Jace, Joshua, Carli, Gavin, Braeden and Caden; 5 siblings, Maria Wasylyszyn, Michael (Joan) Wasylyszyn, Steve (Chris) Wasylyszyn, Andy (Bonnie) Wasylyszyn, Judy Ridley and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, from 4-6 pm, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE where a brief remembrance will be held at 6pm. Burial will be held privately. (Additional parking will be available behind the Brandywine YMCA)
