Howard L. Cox, age 92, formerly of Centerville, DE passed away peacefully at The Summit on August 19, 2022. He was born in Kennett Square, PA and raised in Ashland, DE. Howard was the son of the late Laura (Hanna) and Lewis Cox. He graduated from Alexis I. Dupont HS in 1948. Howard proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
Howard spent most of his working career in the landscaping industry; private and commercial. When he retired, Howard had worked at Brandywine Falls Condominiums as the Maintenance Supervisor.
While his wife Janice was alive, they enjoyed traveling, bird watching and attending water fowl festivals. Howard was able to bring his skills home where his yard was immaculate and enjoyed his many bird houses.
His wife Janice (Cullen) of 57 years died in 2011. Howard is survived by his brother, George Cox; sister-in-law Elaine Hammel and many nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by his 9 siblings.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 26 from 10-11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pk., Wilmington, where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Lower Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington.
