Cynthia Hunter Coupe, age 76, passed away on August 11, 2022 with her family at her side. She was born in Baltimore, MD to Delmas Hunter and his wife Betty Caldwell. She grew up in Waynesboro, VA, graduated from West Chester University in 1968 and attended Smith College for graduate studies.
In 1969 she married Lieutenant Colonel (US Army Ret.) Arthur H. Coupe, Jr. and accompanied him throughout his career in the Army which included several tours in Europe as well as stateside assignments. After his retirement from active duty they lived in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. She loved traveling and the new experiences she shared with her son and husband of 54 years during and after his military career.
Cynthia was predeceased by her parents and brothers Lowell of Glen Mills, Pa. and Quentin of Chocowinity, N.C. She is survived by her loving husband Arthur and her cherished son Joshua Hunter Coupe, his wife Allet who was a much welcomed addition to the family, as well as, Cynthia’s primary care giver and her granddaughter Isabel who was such a delight and pleasure to her grandmother.
Cynthia will always be remembered as a loving, caring wife, mother, and dear friend. Her warm smile, thoughtfulness, and daily presence will be missed by all.
A private interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery with a graveside service for family.
