Elizabeth E. Davis, age 79, of Landenberg, Pa, passed away on July 26, 2022, after a courageous 35-year battle with breast cancer.
Born on November 18, 1942, in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Everett and Sarah Evelyn (Jackson) Essick. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mitchell B Davis, stepsons Daniel & David Davis, and her brothers Walter (her twin) and Earl Essick. She is survived by her step-grandsons, Jason Hollett & Mitchell D Davis, her brothers Joe and Ralph Essick, her sisters Phyllis Wallace and Lillian “Peggy” Wallace, daughter-in-law Karla Davis and numerous nieces and nephews.
Liz, also known to her family as Betsy, graduated from Newark High School in 1960. Liz retired as a vice president from Sears Robuck Acceptance Corp after working her way up in banking, starting as a secretary. She loved spending her summers on Fenwick Island and was always happy to share her cottage. Liz leaves behind many friends and family whom her love and generosity touched deeply. Those lucky enough to know Liz knew she was the nicest person you could meet and would move the world to help anyone. Her departure from this world will leave a hole in many hearts.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 10th, from 12:00-1:00 at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, A service will be at 1:00. Burial will be in Kemblesville Methodist Church Cemetery, Kemblesville, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE.
