Adela Helen Zwier, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 7, 2022. Born in Chester, PA on March 20, 1934, she is the daughter of the late Vincent and Helen (Sanocki) Ignatowicz. She grew up with 3 sisters: Theresa, Jane and Marie and her brother, Walter. She graduated from Chester High School in 1951. Throughout her life, Adela worked as a homemaker, at Scott Paper, DuPont and retired from AstraZeneca in 2004.
Adela was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Donald, in 1991. She leaves behind four loving children who never left her side during the past two months of her illness: Donna Karl of Manorville, NY (Peter), Michael Zwier of Newark, DE (Rita), Denise Barnhart of West Grove, PA (Don) and Kelly Waslyn of Wilmington, DE (Andy). Her family were her biggest source of pride in her life which also included her 11 grandchildren: Katie and Sean Karl; Christopher Zwier, Alexander Zwier, Hayley Boeckenstedt (Alex); Ryan Zwier (Elizabeth); Nicholas, Alexis and Spencer Barnhart; Rylee and Rachel Waslyn and 2 great grandchildren: Nathan and Cameron Boeckenstedt.
Adela was the most loving, supportive, caring, thoughtful, loyal, strong, devoted, and dedicated Mom and Grandmom. She supported and attended every single important event, milestone and the many sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but has left her family and friends (especially her lunch bunch) with many loving memories to always cherish. Adela was a devoted Catholic, strong in her faith, who will continue to guide her family as a beautiful angel in heaven.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, July 12, 2022, from 6-8pm at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803). A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11am, Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Church of The Holy Child (2500 Naamans Rd, Wilmington, DE 19810). Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
