Colleen Schmidt Sturgis of Wilmington, DE. passed away peacefully on June 28, 2022. She was born in Lewistown, PA on December 12, 1929 to Coleman and Alice (Clark) Schmidt.
Along with her parents, she now joins in heaven with her husband John, two of her four children, Colleen Tyre, John M. Sturgis and a great grandchild, Giovanni. She was also predeceased by her younger siblings, Joyce Schuman, Edward Schmidt, Milton Schmidt and Beverly Kryminski.
Colleen loved her family, painting, bowling, taking care of her yard and the children she drove to and from school every day for over 40 years.
Colleen is survived by her daughters, Sandra Garber (Kevin) and Suzanne Farrall (Dennis Albright); grandchildren, Kevin Garber, Jr. (Alisha), Michael Garber (Megan), Richard Stichter (Ashley), Robert Tyre (Jennifer), Julie Piatt, Gregory Sturgis, Michael Sturgis and not to be forgotten her great grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Ryleigh, Bo, Logan, Jackson, Elizabeth, Blake, Colten, Kylee and her sister in-law Marlene Schmidt and Bob Tyre.
The family would like to acknowledge the loving care provided by Brookdale of Dover and Christiana Care in collaboration with Accent Care Hospice.
A visitation with be held on Wednesday July 6 from 10:00-11:00 with a service at 11:00 at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington 19808. Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.
