Morris, Paul

(Obituary lovingly written by family)

Paul David Morris of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born on January 23, 1948 to the late Raymond and Agnes Morris.

Paul graduated from Goldey Beacom College with a degree in accounting, followed by University of Delaware for both undergraduate and graduate degrees in business. He enjoyed a long career in sales, marketing, and human resources. Also, he had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and ran several successful businesses outside of his full-time job.

Though Paul was a man of few words, he made known to those closest to him the things he loved the most…

  • Family vacations to Ocean City, Rehoboth, and Lewes
  • Philadelphia sports
  • Fishing and playing tennis
  • Buying a new car every 2 years or less
  • Competitive games of UNO
  • Growing tomato plants in the backyard
  • Reading the Sunday paper
  • WWII history
  • James Bond marathons
  • Complaining about the weather
  • A hot bowl of soup any day of the year. If the soup wasn’t hot enough, you were sure to hear about it.
  • Italian food - he was a loyal patron of Mrs. Robino’s since the 70s. Lasagna and veal spezzato were favorites.
  • Gin and tonics (Summer) or scotch on the rocks (Winter)

He was affectionately known as the “turtle man” of Mendenhall Village. If someone found a turtle nearby, they quickly knocked on his door and knew he’d take care of it. Speaking of pets, he often cared for them more than his own children.

Paul had the worst road rage this side of the Mason-Dixon. Given this, he inadvertently taught his kids the best four-letter words from the front seat of a 1988 wood-paneled Plymouth Voyager.

Paul was a generous, humble, wise, and witty man. “P-Mo” will be dearly missed by his loved ones. He is survived by his son, Christopher Morris (Stacy); daughter, Diana Morris Kozlowski (Andrew); and his grandchildren, Megan Morris and Ryan Morris. He is preceded in death by his older brother, Raymond Morris; and beloved wife, Patricia Denneny Morris.

A public visitation will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware 19803) on Friday June 24, 2022 from 10-11am, followed immediately by a service at 11:00. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. The family will be there to welcome friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to:
