Richard J. Brown, 67, of New Castle, Delaware passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on June 15, 2022.
Rick attended St. John the Beloved Elementary and Dickinson High School class of ‘72. As a young teenager he worked at his father’s Exxon Service Station at Prices Corner. After a brief employment with Chrysler, he began building his own business at Pizza Plaza on Kirkwood Highway. A venture he enjoyed for many years. Ready to be outdoors, Rick then started a lawn care business (Clean Cut Lawn Service). Always looking for a challenge, Rick pursued his Real Estate license working for Patterson-Swartz until he retired in 2019.
As a proud Dad and Poppop, spending time with his family was what Rick enjoyed most in this world. He was known for his delicious soup and famous stuffing. He also enjoyed fishing, family vacations and had a deep love for animals. Rick had a unique outlook on life and a sense of humor that will be deeply missed.
Rick was preceded by his parents Richard and Helen T. Brown, Wife Patricia G. Brown and his unborn son. He is survived by his daughters and spouses Amanda (John) Poe, Hally (Luis) Santiago, and Kelly (Jay) Cornell. Cherished grandchildren Brooke Brown, Julius, Jeremiah, Jazraya, and Jaxon Santiago, Warren and Jonas Cornell. Siblings and spouses Cathy (Ed) Jones, Bobby (Ann) Brown, Mary Brown and Tommy Brown. Stepmother Gay N. Brown, In-laws Sandy O’Neill, Larry Martin and Jimmy (Cindy) Martin. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family Allan Mckinley, Steven Mckinley, and Cassidy Serio.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 27th at McCrery & Harra (3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, DE 19808) from 10-12, followed by a service at 12. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
