Lynch, Elizabeth Ann, "Betty"

We are celebrating the full life of Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Lynch who passed away on June 15, 2022 at the age of 94. Betty was a living example of God’s love on Earth and was loved by everyone she touched. Her love for her family, acceptance of everyone, positive energy and generosity were an inspiration to her family, friends, and coworkers.

Betty was born on April 21, 1928 in Wilmington, DE where she lived for most of her life. She moved to Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA in 2008, where she passed away surrounded by her nine children. Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Joseph Lynch, her sisters, Catherine Hall and Ceil Haywood, and brothers, Msgr. Thomas Reese, Fr. Charles Reese, and Fr. James Reese.

Betty graduated from Ursuline Academy and St. Francis Nursing School. In addition to raising nine children on Naamans Road and being the center of the family for 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, Betty worked as a nurse for over 40 years, ending her career, appropriately so, at A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children. One of the accolades given at her retirement was that she was part of the cure of the many children she cared for.

The weather was always sunny for Betty, her grandchildren were always “as good as gold”, and her acceptance of life was summed up by her signature saying, “we shall see” with a smile. But above all, Betty will always be remembered by the love and peace she generated with her presence to everyone around her.

Betty is survived by her nine children; Jay, Chris, Liz O’Neill, Kay Stumpf, Jody, Jerome and Jeff, Margie Rogers, and Rob, along with her sister, Sister Mary Reese, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The celebration Mass of Betty’s life will be held on Monday June 20 at Holy Child Catholic Church, 2500 Naamans Rd. Wilmington, DE, visitation will be from 10:00 –11:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made tomaryknollsisters.org.
