Krein, Eduard

Eduard Krein, 79, passed away Monday, May 16th, 2022 at his home in Hockessin, Delaware. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith, his sons Michael (Crystal) of Florida, Paul (Kim) of Virginia, his daughter Kari (Janelle) of Delaware, his brother Harry (Helga) of Arizona, and many wonderful grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.He is predeceased by parents, Theodore and Pauline (Kiess) Krein.

Born in the Ukraine, Ed came to the United States in 1951, where his family settled in Ulster County, N.Y. He studied at Cornell University and Hartwick College, earning his degrees in history and economics. Ed, Judy, and their family lived and worked in various areas of New England, Europe, Asia, and Florida. In September 2020, Ed and Judy relocated to Delaware.

Highlights of Ed’s career in the hospitality industry included the Olympic Events in Sarajevo, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Working as COO for Delaware North in Southeast Asia was a favorite time in his lifefor the challenges of the position and for all the opportunities to travel.

Ed enjoyed time with family, listening to classical music, gardening, and weekly Bible studies with his friends in Florida. He is now in Heaven where the Lord has prepared a place for him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 5th at 4pm at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, Delaware.

As we all know, Ed loved to feed friends and family and would love to know that the children and families in our communities are eating well. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Food Bank of Delaware (www.fbd.org/ Attn: Dev. Department, 222 Lake Drive, Newark, DE 19702) or your community’s local food bank.
