Vanover, Estelle Posinski

Estelle Posinski Vanover, 91, of Wilmington DE gave up her earthly battle at Sunrise Senior Living on May 3, 2022. She died peacefully with her daughter Marguerite by her side.

Estelle was born in 1930 in Baltimore, MD, one of ten children to Peter and Stella Posinski. Estelle enjoyed 66 years of wedded bliss with her husband Eugene who preceded her in death in 2018. She is mother to Eugenia “Jeannie” Vanover and Marguerite Pennington (Michael) of Wilmington, Edward Vanover (Jeannie) of Laytonsville, MD, and Donald Vanover (Patty) of West Chester, PA. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren include Jennifer (Brian McLaughlin, Abby, and Colin), Allen Pennington (Lindsay, Aj, and Mia), Katie Saturno (Pierre Santini), Tommy Saturno (Jenna and Solomon), Catherine (Lillian Chase), Geoffrey, Kevin, Rebecca, Monica, and Mary Vanover. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Estelle missed all her siblings dearly and the many family members who predeceased her.

Over the years Estelle (and Gene) hosted more family occasions than we can count, each one with her saying thank you sweet Jesus for this beautiful family. Estelle graduated from the school of Caring and Sharing and she truly believed that the more you give the more you receive. She was a devout Roman Catholic and believed in the power of prayer and in God’s Divine Mercy. She had a unique way of making everyone in her life feel special and loved, while providing inspiration and guidance and reminding each of us to keep God in our lives.

Estelle met Gene at Howard Johnson as a teenager. He was a cook and she was a waitress. Her career as a waitress picked up again after her children were born and she made so many lifelong friends at the Harvest House, another opportunity to touch more lives. She was very proud that she retired from Woolworth with 25 years of service.
