Emilie “Pinkie” Blackwell, age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2022.
Pinkie was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Emilie Tyler. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Blackwell, her son, Chris Blackwell (Kelly), her daughter Debbie Wright (Larry), her sister Francie Crandall (Jeff) as well as her beloved grandchildren, Jason, Drew, Abbie, Andy and Ted.
Pinkie graduated in 1956 from A.I. DuPont High School where she played softball and was a member of the Marching Band. She then attended Goldey-Beacom College.
Pinkie was a member of the Wilmington Country Club where she was an avid Tennis player. She loved to socialize and hosted many gatherings. She thrived on caring for and helping others. She acted as PTA president at her children’s schools, volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and spent many years involved in Delaware’s Adopt-A-Family program.
She loved to spend time on her boat fishing and welcoming others aboard. She was a member and treasurer of The Great Oak Yacht Club.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, WIlmington, DE 19803. Funeral services and burial will be private.
