Dolores E. Karawulan (nee Snyder), formerly of Elsmere, passed away at the age of 90 on April 13, 2022 at her daughter, Gale Duncan’s home. Dolores braved a recurrence of Lymphoma with grace and fortitude.
She grew up in the Marshallton area and was the second oldest of 18 children. Dolores attended H.C. Conrad High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1950. Following graduation, she began working for the Du Pont Company in the Finance/Agricultural department for 40 yrs.
Dolores has been a member of St. Michael Orthodox Church since 1966 when she and her husband, Peter Karawulan, were married. She enjoyed her church fellowship by making and selling perogies, assisting with many church bizarres and becoming the Church Treasurer for a number of years.
Her greatest love was her family, especially her granddaughters. She loved to cheer on her great-grandsons at their baseball games and would tell anyone and everyone who would listen that her great-grandsons were “so special” to her.
Her husband, Peter Karawulan died in 1998. Dolores is survived by 2 daughters: Gale H. Duncan (Robby) and Deborah Christiana. 3 granddaughters: Candice Santoro (Brian), Taylor M. Duncan, and Robyn Feil (Joe). and 1 grandson: James Duncan Jr. (Heather). She is, also, survived by the Loves of Her Life and lovingly remembered as “Hummy” by her Great-Grandsons: Matt, Joey and Lee Santoro and Ian Feil and twin great-granddaughters: Brianna and Teagan Duncan. The family will miss her deeply and are grateful to have had so many years with her.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 20, from 10:30 am- 12 noon at St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church, 2300 W Huntington Dr., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be held at All Saints Cemetery.
