Nina A. Worthington of Hockessin, DE died on March 30, 2022 after a brief illness. She was 79.
Nina was born in Washington, D.C. to John and Elizabeth Nina Worthington. She grew up in Atlanta, GA and graduated Smith College with a BA in American Studies in 1964. She met and married her husband Yi-chun (Patrick) Chang in Washington, D.C. They moved to Delaware in 1968 when he joined the faculty of the University of Delaware.
Nina had a long career as a well-respected estate planner. She joined the Trust Department of Bank of Delaware (later PNC Bank) in 1979, became a Certified Financial Planner and Accredited Estate Planner, and left PNC Bank in 1992 as a Vice President and Senior Trust Officer to launch the Trust Department of the Christiana Bank & Trust Company in Greenville, DE. Among her professional affiliations, Nina was a past president of the Estate Planning Council of Delaware and a past chair of the Wilmington Tax Group. She was also a member of the Rotary Club of Wilmington and the Forum of Executive Women Delaware, and served on the boards of Cokesbury Village and Girls, Inc. of Delaware.
Nina was a passionate fan of opera, and ardently supported OperaDelaware as a past treasurer and board member. She also loved to garden, eventually earning the title of Master Gardener through the Cooperative Extension of the University of Delaware. As an only child, she treasured the sisterhood she found as a member of the Delaware State Chapter of P.E.O. International. She was an avid reader, a budding bridge player, and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking.
Nina is survived by her two daughters, Catharine J. Chang (Ron) of Newtown, PA and Nina J. Chang (Craig) of Wilmington, DE.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph on the Brandywine on Friday, April 8 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:30. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to OperaDelaware.
