God called Lois Jean Wakeling home on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the age of 81. Lois, of Georgetown, formerly of Wilmington, was born to Grace and Charles Dougherty on August 1, 1940. She graduated from Wilmington High School and married Charles William Wakeling. They remained happily married until his passing on May 9, 1993.
Lois worked at Delmarva Power in her early years and became a housewife until her husband’s passing. She then started working at the Bank of New York in Newark until retirement. Lois loved to play cards and board games with friends, putting together 1000+ piece puzzles & crafts and reading Danielle Steele novels. She also loved sitting on her back porch with family and watching the birds that she loved feeding.
Lois is survived by her son Charles of Georgetown, son David (Bonita) of Millsboro, granddaughter Taylor of Austin, TX, and many other close and caring relatives.
Friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, March 25 from 11 am to 12 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington with a funeral service to follow at 12 pm. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
