Hisler, August M. "Gus"

August (Gus) M. Hisler, age 85, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and was the son of the late August H. Hisler and Rosemarie Reichhardt Hisler. Gus graduated from West Catholic High School and Drexel University. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1961 to 1967 and went on to own his own job placement business.

Gus had a lifelong joy in watching the Philadelphia Eagles, but his true passion was baseball. He dedicated over 30 years to coaching in Brandywine Little League. The height of which was taking his 13-year-old All-Star Team to the Senior Little League World Series.

His wife of 36 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Ryley Hisler, preceded him in death, passing in 1999. Gus is survived by his 3 children, Donald M. (Laura), Lisa Hisler Cahall (William) and Kenneth W. (Sharon); his grandchildren, Allyson LaRocca (Nicholas), Kyle Hisler (Chelsea), Sara Hisler (Andy), Jenna Hisler, Timothy Hisler and Katherine Cahall; his great-granddaughter, Elizabeth LaRocca; his sister, Rosemarie Hisler Malcolm, and her children, Rosemarie and John.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 25, at 12:00 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, 19803 where friends may call after 10 am. Burial will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
