Gary L. Marhoover, age 86, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, leaving behind a loving family, and a large circle of friends.
Gary was a family man and found great joy in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was known for hosting the best pool parties and making endless memories with family and friends. He will forever be remembered for having that sparkle in his eye when he was telling stories of his time playing baseball in the minor league for the Pirates, and his time served in the US Air Force.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Helen (Stubbs) Marhoover, brothers, Charles and Neil, and sister Betty. Gary is survived by his wife, Doris of 63 years, his daughters, Linda Knowles (David), Lisa Doyle (Ed) and Laura L’Italien (John); his eight grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Paige, Delaney, Keegan, Renada, Ragan, and Peyton; Seven great grandchildren, Drew, Camryn, Nolan, Ezra, Dax, Cayden and Rafe; and his niece, Margaret (Marhoover) Crouch.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701, on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Gary to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), 100 Veterans Dr, Newark, DE 19711.
