MaryBeth Capik, age 53, passed away at Christiana Hospital on February 5, 2022.
MaryBeth was born in Wilmington, DE in 1968, the first of two children of Robert and Eleanor Capik.
MaryBeth attended Ursuline Academy, then the University of Delaware where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a concentration of business courses. She worked for 25 years with AstraZeneca in Clinical Research and Data Analysis, gaining considerable expertise in clinical trials, study start-up procedures and data management. MaryBeth acted as lead data manager for many successful pharmaceuticals in the AZ portfolio. MaryBeth is survived by her parents and a brother Stephen of Dewey Beach, DE, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
At Ursuline Academy, MaryBeth excelled in volleyball and was named to the All State Catholic team. She was a prolific reader of books, buying 10 at a time and reading them within a month. If she wasn’t reading, her fondest hobby was doing crossword puzzles, the harder the better. In her younger years MaryBeth was an accomplished pianist. Her generosity and concern for the well being of others were MaryBeth’s most outstanding qualities.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 11 from 10-11:30 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30. Interment will follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in MaryBeth’s name to IHM Outreach at the above address.
