Ronnie Jessup of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2022 with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. He was son of the late Howard and Genevieve (Lamonski) Jessup, of Elmira, NY and beloved husband of Susanna Jessup, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. He is survived by their two sons, Michael and Adam (Elleni); three grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel and Olivia; brothers, Larry (Nancy), Raymond (Sandy), Duane, Terry (Alida); sister, Colleen; several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and many cousins.
Ronnie was a United States Air Force veteran and did a tour in Vietnam. He retired from St. Mary Magdalen Church and School after 18 years of service. He loved fishing, going camping in his RV, and showing his grandsons, of whom he was extremely proud, a large part of the USA. Ronnie loved helping everyone. He had a great sense of humor and loved pulling pranks and making people laugh.
The family would like to thank the staff at Penn Medicine and the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for the care they provided over the last 10 years. Ronnie also wanted to give a special thanks to his Blossburg, PA dinner companion, Norma. She always took time out for him. Thanks, John, for sharing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Roman Catholic Church (7 Sharpley Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Faithful Friends or the Delaware SPCA.
