Loretta May Bouwkamp, 82, of Newark Delaware, passed away on January 14th, surrounded by her son and daughter.
She was born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 14, 1939, and attended Conrad high school, and met Robert Lewis Bouwkamp at a high school dance in 1956. They were married for 60 wonderful years, beginning February 22nd, 1958.
Loretta was a Sunday School teacher at Bethany Baptist Church. She worked for Bambergers, later Macy’s, for over 20 years, before retiring at age 62.
She was a great friend to many and a devoted mother to her beloved children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Spending time with her family was the most important thing to her.
Loretta was a devout woman, who passed down her strong Christian faith, morals, principles and values to her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Mary Webb, her husband Robert Sr. and her son Robert Jr.
Loretta is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rose Bouwkamp; daughter, Michelle Gehrmann; son, John Bouwkamp (Gail); three grandchildren, Ryan (Melanie), Amanda (Aaron) and Alexis; four great grandchildren, Haley, Laurel, Miles and Kai; and her sister, Marjorie Henretty.
Funeral and burial will be next year.
