Barry Wilson, age 74 of Wilmington, Delaware passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022.
Barry proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. After 36 years of service, he retired from New Castle County as Project Administrator.
Barry’s true love was his wife, Bridget. He was her heart, her steady companion, her protector and caregiver. For thirty years, Barry did everything he could, every single day, to make sure Bridget was happy. Sometimes happiness meant crazy road trips or quiet getaways to Ocean City. Sometimes it meant making coleslaw for a family party, lunch dates at the farmers market or dinner at Stanley’s Tavern. Over the last few years, it meant doctors appointments, prescription refills, 24⁄7 care. The through line from the moment they met in 1991 until they said goodbye was devotion and loyalty and love – steadfast, unconditional love.
He is survived by his beloved wife Bridget Wilson, stepson Joshua (Brianna) Alcorn, stepdaughter Jenda Alcorn, two grandchildren Noah and Annalise Alcorn. Siblings Carol Burgess (Butch), Brenda Hinderer (Bob), Howard Wilson (Debbie), Jeff Wilson (Nancy), Terry Wilson. He is preceded in death by Jimmy Wilson (Holly), Marjorie Davis (George), Ronna Wilson.
