Barbetta, Sue D.

On January 12, 2022, Sue D. Barbetta, 66, of Newark, DE went home to be with the Lord with her husband and children by her side.

She was born on February 18th, 1955 in El Paso, TX, the daughter of the late Charles and Finnette deLorimier. She graduated from Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School, Class of 1973. She went on to get her bachelor’s degree in Education at Marymount University and later her Master’s Degree in special education, something she was very passionate about.

She was also an avid writer of children’s books, even publishing her own. She retired from teaching in July of 2020 after 18years. She was also a genuine follower of Christ and her faith was important to her, as she was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church for many years. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert Barbetta. Her 3 children, Christina Baker (Mitchell) of Hagerstown, MD, Michael Barbetta of Newark, DE and David Barbetta (Tyler) of Newark, DE. Her 3 siblings Thomas deLorimier of Newark, DE, Patti Sudduth of Jacksonville, FL and John deLorimier of Dallas, TX. Along with her sister- in- la w Linda Woodis (Bill) of Newark, DE. She is also survived by her 2 grandchildren, Chelsea Catherine Baker and Logan Jacob Baker, and a 3rd on the way. She adored her grandchildren, the lights of her life as she would call them, and had just moved the month prior to be closer to them so she could spend her retirement watching them grow up.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Tuesday January 25th, with visitation from 10am-11am and service at 11:00 am. Burial will be private. Masks are required to attend the service.
