Robert W. “Bob” Bilson, age 74, of Wilmington, DE, peacefully passed away on December 12, 2021 after a short illness.
Born in Chester, PA and raised in Brookhaven, Bob was the son of the late Morris and Helen Bilson. He graduated from Sun Valley High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts from Cheyney University. Bob proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. For 34 years, Bob worked as an educator in the Brandywine School District, retiring in 2009. Happiest sitting in a boat with a fishing rod in his hand, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the beach, working in the yard and spending time with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of 22 years Karen Bilson; sons, Rob, Mark (Jen), and Chris; step-sons, Jamie Mance and Scott Mance (Patti); grandchildren and brothers, Morris (Beth) and John. He is preceded in death by his sons’ mother, Dianne Bilson and his sister, Marlene Mcmenamin (Kevin).
A visitation will be held at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington on Friday, December 17 from 6-7pm, followed by a memorial service at 7 pm. Burial will be private. The family would like to thank the staff of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital for their constant, attentive treatment.
