Gyorgyi (Georgina) Fenyvesi passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2021.
The daughter of Gyorgy and Magdolna Fenyvesi, Georgina was born on March 27, 1957 in Kisterenye, Hungary and was raised in Salgotarjan, Hungary. She attended Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary where she earned her PhD in Polymer Chemistry.
In 1996, Georgina was invited to work in polymer science at the University of Akron and immigrated to the United States. In 2000 she accepted her dream job at DuPont and the family moved to the company’s headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. At DuPont, she held successive positions in research and product stewardship before transitioning to Arkema, where she continued her work in product stewardship.
In her free time, Georgina enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, and going on walks with her daughters and “granddog” Stella. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays when she made sure that everyone had some Hungarian pastries to enjoy.
Georgina is survived by her partner Mike Calvarese; her two daughters, Veronika Miketa Sterling (Michael) and Dorottya Miketa; her sister Agnes Fenyvesi (Tibor); and former spouse Gyorgy Miketa.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. followed by a short ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. In lieu of flowers the family suggests planting a tree in memory of Georgina as her nickname in Hungarian was Fenyöke (Little Pine) https://www.alivingtribute.org
