Wilmington- Janet S. “Jan” Kadow, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home with her loved ones by her side on November 15, 2021.
She was born and raised in Akron and Cuyahoga Falls, OH and was the daughter of the late Olivia “Bee” Bernice (Wells) and Richard C. Mills. Jan graduated high school in 1960. She attended Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH from 1960-1962. She belonged to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
Jan worked for and retired from Pepsi, then worked for and retired from Accenture retiring as an operations manager. She was an active member of her community. She was part of Delaware Crime Stoppers and an active member at St Paul United Methodist Church and St Mark’s United Methodist Church. Her passion was volunteering at UNICEF, where she received awards for her service. She spearheaded a fundraising event at Christiana Mall, gift wrapping during the Christmas season that raised over 200k for UNICEF. She was a member of Chapter E-Delaware P.E.0 Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization) for 7 years. She was most essential by serving and leading numerous fundraising efforts and social events. She was head of the landscape committee in Hershey Run.
Jan enjoyed reading, gardening, baseball; traveling to major and minor league fields with her husband Lee. She loved being around family and friends. She had a big heart and loved to help people. She was a problem solver and a giver.
Her husband of 60 years, Leroy “Lee” died in August of 2021. She is survived by 2 sons, Christopher (Regina) and Michael; 6 grandchildren, Megan, Torie, Trevor, Hanna, Nathan and Sabrina and 2 great grandchildren, Adeline and Caden.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 10-11 am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington followed by a Memorial Service at 11am. Inurnment will be at All Saint’s Cemetery.
